The circumstances of Ms. Jenna Bowling’s death are not known

The Coos Bay Police Department received a phone call of a deceased female at Bay Area Hospital today at 11:16 am. The female was identified as seventeen year old Jenna Bowling, of North Bend.

Ms. Bowling had been brought into Bay Area Hospital by private car at about 10:20 AM. She arrived at the hospital non-responsive and was pronounced dead at 11:07 AM. The hospital emergency room contacted Kris Karcher, the Chief Deputy Medical Examiner for Coos County who in turn notified the Coos Bay Police Department. Based upon initial information received from the hospital, the Coos County Major Crime Team was activated.

The circumstances of Ms. Bowling’s death are not known and in an abundance of caution it was decided to activate the team so that a thorough investigation can be completed in a timely manner. Ms. Bowling had been at a residence located at 1690 Ocean Blvd. immediately prior to her being taken to the hospital.

Officers conducted a search at that residence during the evening hours of February 6. Officers from the Coos Bay Police Department, North Bend Police Department, Coquille Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon State Police (Coos Bay and Roseburg offices), the Coos County Medical Examiner’s office and the District Attorney all responded to assist in this investigation.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2010. Anyone with information regarding this matter is encouraged to contact the Coos Bay Police Department.
